Pukekohe – Why Go Anywhere Else?
It’s been 10 years since I was offered a job in Pukekohe and we had to google where Pukekohe was before we moved our lives from Dunedin to the temperate north. As we told family and friends, we were moving to a town just south of Auckland and that description holds true to this day. Pukekohe is definitely its own town, with a great rural and relaxed vibe but with a sophisticated experience. In my opinion, the town has only got more exciting and vibrant the longer we’ve lived here. With the addition of quality murals and events around the town, Pukekohe is a desirable destination not only to visit but to live, work and play.
Over the past 10 years, we have been amazed at the huge growth in Pukekohe in housing, traffic, people, and business! When we moved here there was no need to go anywhere else for what we needed and 10 years on, the options and possibilities have only increased substantially with the addition of more big-box retail alongside boutique, speciality stores, amazing eateries, and high-quality professional services and trades. We utilise local providers for everything we need including conveyancing, car servicing, healthcare, beauty, daycare, and of course – shopping and eating.
The most frequent comment we hear from new residents and visitors to Pukekohe is what a lovely, clean, and busy town centre we have. It can be easy when you live somewhere for a period of time to get used to these benefits so it’s lovely to look at the town from an outside perspective and accept the compliments because we are so lucky with what we have on offer here.
“Set aside a day to explore Pukekohe and see what it has to offer”
With free parking in all the retail areas (longer-term parking available in the public car parks) you can take the time to explore the town from one end to the other. You may be surprised at what is available and the amazing expertise of our local businesses.
It has been really heartening this year to see our locals supporting local, we would love to see this continue and there are several ways you can support your local businesses.
- Continue to spend locally wherever possible
- Buy a gift card from local businesses
- Write a positive review for your favourite business and post it to their Facebook page, trip advisor, or google. Reviews not only increase the awareness of the local business but also provide a much-needed morale boost
When considering making any purchase in future we strongly encourage you to support local and make Pukekohe your destination!
