Pukekohe Pink Ribbon Breakfat

The Pukekohe Pink Ribbon Breakfast invited businesses and residents to join in an entertaining morning and delicious breakfast spread to fundraise for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

Hosted by Pukekohe Business Association and People Passion, the sold-out event brought together over 70 attendees at 1 Roulston on the national Pink Ribbon Breakfast Day, Thursday 23 May 2024.

Attendees indulged in a delectable spread of culinary delights provided by local chef, Holly Jansen from The Daily Goods, and additional treats from Bakers Delight, Pik n Mix Lollies, Columbus Coffee inside Mitre 10 Mega, and Elevation Coffee while they participated in games, trivia and competitions.

Guests were joined by Jeanette Irwin from Franklin Breast Cancer Support Group Inc. to share stories of hope and resilience and hear the practical and emotional support they provide.

Emcee, Tim Gregory encouraged everyone to generously support the cause throughout the morning.

In addition to the profit from ticket sales, The Pukekohe Pink Ribbon Breakfast ran silent auctions and raffles with $4000 worth of prizes donated by local businesses.

Attendees walked away with great prizes including vouchers, lollies, pampering packages, a sewing machine, hampers, a coffee maker, local art, a recliner chair, and dried flower arrangements.

“We’re astounded by the outpouring of support from the community,” says Courtney Johnson, Marketing and Events Coordinator at the Pukekohe Business Association.

“Breast cancer affects so many individuals and families in our community, and this event allows us to come together and make a tangible difference. Hopefully, we can continue to host and grow the Pukekohe Pink Ribbon Breakfast in the years to come”.

With proceeds from ticket sales, merchandise and the raffle going directly to the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, the event generated over $3,000 to fund vital research, early detection education, support services, medical grants, and advocacy to improve outcomes for those affected by breast cancer.

The event was closed off with some heartfelt words from Shawna Coleman, Town Centre Manager at Pukekohe Business Association. She thanked all those who attended and supported the event to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by this disease.

Supporters can continue to make a difference by donating to the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

This is the first year the Pukekohe Pink Ribbon Breakfast was held. The event took place in the character building at 1 Roulston, on the morning of Thursday 23 May, 2024.

The Pukekohe Business Association plans to make this an annual event in the Pukekohe community calendar.
