Christmas On The Green returns to Pukekohe 2023

Thousands of people flooded onto the pitch at Navigation Homes Stadium on Saturday 2 December for Pukekohe’s biggest Christmas event of the year, Christmas on The Green.

Christmas On The Green is a free community event in partnership with Pukekohe Business Association and Counties Energy. The day is filled with entertainment, live performances, rides, food, games, prizes, and a visit from Santa.

Pukekohe Business Association, with the support of NowEvents and Blueliners Entertainment, welcomed over 3,000 people into the stadium throughout the day.

This is the second year that the Pukekohe Business Association has hosted the event. Last year’s event replaced Pukekohe’s Santa Parade to meet the demand for a more engaging Christmas event.

The 2022 event was disturbed by heavy rains so we were stoked that we had a beautiful clear day for our community to get into the festivities.

Families set up picnic blankets in front of the stage from 2:30 PM, with kids and adults alike dancing into the evening to the live music.

The lineup of talented performers was hosted by Paul Flynn (from More FM’s Jay-Jay & Flynny) and included the Pukekohe High School Stage Band, Te Kapa Haka o Te Raki o Pukekohe, Libby Claire Jazz Quartet, Groovit, Aro, The RVMES and RSA Franklin Pipe Band.

Attendees made the most of the free rides and activities, including a Rock-Climbing Wall, Basketball Shootout, Inflatable Pirate Ship, Carriage Rides, the Fun Factory, and the Life Education Mobile Classroom.

The event also offered a huge range of food trucks, as well as stalls from Counties Manukau Police, The Runway Foundation, St Johns Ambulance, and The Franklin Amateur Radio Club.

Many local businesses supported the event and donated prizes. The Pukekohe Business Association and Counties Energy presented over $5,000 in giveaways to attendees and the Counties Manukau Police team gave out hundreds of presents donated by The Warehouse.

It’s great to get to offer a free event of this scale to Pukekohe. We loved bringing the community together to get into the spirit of the holiday season.

Pukekohe Business Association plans to continue to grow this event over the coming years due to the great reception it has received.
