Neighbourhood Policing Team - News

Due to the hot weather we are having it is tempting to arrange for a cooling air flow through the shop by leaving the back door open. It is possible to do this without tempting the thieves that may be cruising about looking for opportunities. Some people fit a galvanised steel grill on the outside that can be padlocked. Another option would be to fit a security screen door like the one you should have at home. They are better than the grill because they keep insects of all sorts out and can be easily opened from the inside. If the landlord doesn't wish to come to the party consider the cost of the extra security provided by the screen door and weigh it against what you might otherwise loose. Whatever you decide all handbags, etc, belonging to staff should be secured in a locked cupboard that cannot be easily accessed by thieves that come in the front and somehow get into the back of the shop unobserved.

The Police are available to talk at your meetings, individually to you and your staff and we can provide appropriate booklets as reference material.

Give me a call any time or Community Constable Nick Richards (027 484 2300 after 14 February).
